The Farm

The Circle Z brand goes back to the beginning of our family’s legacy. It was the livestock brand of my grandparents, Burnell and Myrtle (Micki) Zentner. Together, with their children, they purchased the old Duncan home in Capay Valley, where the flowers are currently grown. Micki would study law on her trusty tractor and passed the California Judicial Council in June 1963. She was a judge in the Justice Court District in Capay, serving from 1964 to 1977, and then served in the county traffic court. She was one of the first woman judges in California.
Burnell continued to farm the fields until he retired. After that, he started a modest farm and watched us (his grandchildren) while our parents were at work. We would all listen to his stories, life lessons and of course silly jokes. He taught us how to bake, cook, build, play baseball and to enjoy every day.
Once Micki retired, she spent her days painting beautiful valley landscapes and holiday cheer! I learned so much from her and feel so lucky to have been with her so much before she passed. Both Burnell and Micki were well known for their hospitality, humor, friendship and love.
After their passing, I wanted to keep the Circle Z faming tradition alive by starting the flower farm. Which is something that Micki always wanted to do, along with making her famous Cowboy Coffee Toffee candy.
The logo they used for their livestock branding was the inspiration for the farms new logo and brand. I hand painted the logo and used the same techniques my grandmother taught me when making different flower arrangements. It represents our beautiful family history and what's yet to come!
